Arizona Diamondbacks Come To Philly For A 3 Game Series
The Arizona Diamondbacks come to Philly on August 16th to open a 3 game series with the Phillies. Josh Collmenter (7-7) is scheduled to start for the Diamondbacks while Roy Halladay (15-4) is slated to start for the Phils. Game time will be 7:05 PM at Citizens Bank Park.
Arizona is leading the NL West by 2 games with a 67-53 record. The Phillies are ahead of the NL East by 8 1/2 games with a record of 78-41.

Roy Halladay went the distance but picked up a loss as the Diamondbacks beat the Phillies 3-2. Halladay struck out 14 in the losing cause. Shane Victorino hit his 13th home run, a 2 run shot in the 5th inning for the Phils only runs of the night. The Phillies had their 198th consecutive sellout tonight with a crowd of 45,742.
Game 2 of the series will feature Joe Saunders (8-9) for Arizona and Cliff Lee (12-7) for Philadelphia. Game time will be at 7:05 PM.
Cliff Lee upped his won loss record to 13-7 as the Phils got some late inning offense and beat the Diamonbacks 9-2. Lee went 7 innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits. One of those hits was a 2 run homer in the 2nd by Paul Goldschmidt, his 3rd of the year.
Jimmy Rollins hit a lead off home run, his 14th of the season. Rollins went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s and a run scored. The Phillies ended the game with 12 hits. Other Phils with multiple hits were John Mayberry Jr. 3-4, Shane Victorino 2-4, and Hunter Pence 2-2 with 3 runs scored. Attendance for tonight’s game was 45,894, the 199th consecutive sellout.
Final game of this brief homestand will be tomorrow night. Starting pitchers are Ian Kennedy (15-3) for Arizona and Vance Worley (8-1) for Philadelphia. Game time is once again 7:05 PM.
A 2 hour and 17 minute rain delay at last night’s game during the bottom of the 3rd inning. See video for thunderstorm footage. The Phillies weathered the storm with a 4-1 win over Arizona. Citizens Bank Park had it’s 200th consecutive sellout, which includes postseason play, with a crowd of 45,633 in attendance.
John Mayberry Jr. hit his 10th home run, a 2 run shot, in the 3rd inning before the rain delay began. Chase Utley had 2 hits including a double and Raul Ibanez added 2 doubles for the Phils. Neither starting pitcher saw any action after the game resumed, but Diamondback starter Ian Kennedy was tagged for the loss. David Herndon (1-2) picked up the win for the Phils. The Phillies are now 44-20 at home and have an 8 1/2 game lead over Atlanta in the NL East.
